Bigger, bolder and better!
Despite the hype of superhero films that is rushing through movie theatres worldwide, Deadpool 2 manages to beat the odds and stand out as a better film than its predecessor. With an easy, entertaining story, some welcome new characters and brilliant cinematography, this film definitely deserves the love it so obviously craves from viewers.
Joining Ryan Reynolds in his latest outing as the iconic antihero is the infamous Cable, played by Josh Brolin (whose other appearance this year as Thanos did not escape the wrath of the fourth-wall humor of this film), who lends such a realistic, and crucial emotional element to this movie that I feel was probably missing for the most part in the original film. Brolin’s portrayal of the character is a testament to his ability as an actor, who can play completely different characters in vastly different worlds.
There is so much bloodshed in this film, far more than the original. However, I do feel that although the extreme graphic violence is just part of the humorous landscape of the film, there certainly is more of a stylistic choice with the use of gore in this movie, and it does not appear as exploitative senseless violence that one would expect from a Deadpool sequel.
The cinematography and action scene choreography are some of the best I’ve seen from a superhero film in a long time, and it all works together in a really impressive dynamic between all the creative aspects of the film. I think this is definitely an improvement on the original film, and should stand out as an example of a well-crafted superhero comedy film.
This film is daring, original and there’s so much entertainment in it for everyone, and i highly recommend seeing it, maybe even more than once!
