Black Panther isn’t the king but Spider-Man prevails in the first major awards for the year.
The award season is officially in full swing as the 76th annual Golden Globes Awards were last night, hosted by Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh.
There were upsets, there were obvious winners and most of all there was fun. Opening with a calm, yet hilarious, monologue, Samberg and Oh proved to be great hosts, with Sandra Oh really being a shining favourite. It might however not have been a favourite night for Black Panther as it lost out to the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody in the race for Best Drama Picture. Marvel’s luck went with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which won Best Animated Picture in a hotly contested group of nominees.
It looked like it could’ve begun a groundbreaking year for Marvel Studios. Only the Oscars will tell if the studio will get it’s first Best Picture award or will it bite the dust as Queen remain the champions of this season’s awards.
