Sucker of Souls is the fifth episode of Love, Death & Robots. The short film is directed by Owen Sullivan, with animation by Studio La Cachette.
Sucker of Souls features two archeologists exploring an anciet castle, with help from a group of tough mercanaries. They are searching for information regarding the monster that might live in the castle. That monster turns out to be a beastly, monsterous and deathly version of Dracula.
The animation style for Sucker of Souls fits it so perfectly! The animation is similar to that of the TV show Venture Bros but its is rougher and is more like panels of a comic book. The main feature here is blood and death and how the animation helps to create each detail and it certainly does, as you can see above. The animation allows the creators to make a truly devilling Dracula which looks monstrous and well looks like it could rip you in half with blood flying everywhere.
This short film is great, it suffers a little in terms of abrupt endings but overall its a great short film and something I would definitely watch more of. It’s character’s are likeable and funny whilst also being rough and tough. The first death is also something that will make the creators of Mortal Kombat proud as it is truly disgustingly brutal, again see above.
