Sometimes dead’s better
Alright, I admit it, I love Stephen King. Always have, always will. I find it hard to see many good movies made from his films and its not anyone’s fault but his. His books are written in a way that I don’t think they can be translated well to cinema. There are some exceptions; The Shining (I still like the book better), Stand By Me and Shawshank Redemption. So, once I saw this trailer for Pet Sematary, and it actually looked decent, I was in and after a long wait, it was finally here. But was it going to be a Dark Tower or a Green Mile?
The movie has a simple premise, but it’s the way that it’s told and the ambiguity that some parts of the story
Pet Sematary is shot well and the acting is good for the most part. There is an issue I have with some acting that I can’t talk about without spoiling the entire movie, but it seemed like a tired choice to make and there probably could’ve been a fresher take. Apart from that, I don’t feel that this movie was a horror movie per
I was stuck in a predicament when I left the cinema, I love the book and I like the story, but I feel that this particular narrative is hard to tell in a compelling way, that would even come close to ground-breaking. It was good, and I enjoyed it, but I don’t think I will rush to see it again and I don’t think it will be as well remembered as say IT was. For all the stuff it does right, it also tows a plain line. If you’re a fan, see it and if you want some fresh horror, the Sematary is also worth a visit.
