You most likely know the first Watch Dogs game. It was hyped up heaps but then ended up being the first big disappointment in the PS4 and Xbox One’s life cycle. So it is crazy to think that the sequel to the game could be one of my favourite games of the year. Watch Dogs 2 doesn’t press reset but really just learns from it’s mistakes and continues on a different path from the first game. The first game you played as Aiden who had about as much emotion as a stationary wrecking ball and the story, well if you finished the game, wasn’t exactly satisfying. Watch Dogs 2 has moved to a more vibrant place, San Francisco, and created a character, Marcus, who is fun and exciting. The main story isn’t the main part of the game either and after 15 hours of playing Watch Dogs 2 I realised I had barely even touched the story but instead spent my time doing exciting side missions and exploring the city and it’s many hidden treasures. The overall aim of the game is that you’re part of the hacker group Dedsec and you’re trying to acquire more followers, same as you trying to have the best Instagram account. If you have a lot of free time over the christmas break I would recommend getting Watch Dogs 2, probably going cheap somewhere due to low sales. You will spend hours running around and messing about this technological jungle and exploring what has been called one of the best recreations of a city in video games. Whether you want to steal a car, take a bunch of selfies, do karting races, do drone races, go around stealing cash from people, hijack robots or simply spray paint billboards, this game has everything you need and more. Check out this sleeper hit of 2016 which has managed to slip through the cracks whilst people have been focusing on their next iteration of the same shooter.
